Joe Biden is set to be sworn in as the 46th President of the United States on 20 January. President-Elect Biden and Vice-President-Elect Kamala Harris will take their oaths on the West Front of the US Capitol for the 59th presidential inauguration.

On January 6, the US Capitol Building was attacked by supporters of Donald Trump, after which the ceremony will be held amid tight security. Strong security arrangements have been made in Washington after this attack. Around 25,000 National Guard soldiers have been deployed for security. The security has been tightened in such a way that the whole of Washington has been transformed into a fort.

Outgoing President Trump, who accused him of fraud in counting votes during the 2020 US presidential election, would not attend his inauguration. According to reports, Trump plans to leave Washington on the morning of Inauguration Day.

On Inauguration Day, both the Vice-President and President-Elect will take oath in the afternoon, which will be followed by the inaugural address. This year, in-person attendance is limited to Congress due to security protocols. Biden will arrive at the White House with a presidential escort, which includes representatives from every branch of the military.

Following the inaugural address on January 20, President-Elect, First Lady, Vice-President-Elect, and Second Gentleman will participate in the review passed on the Eastern Front with members of the military.

Biden and Harris would then go to the Arlington National Ceremony to garland the martyred soldiers. The event will also be attended by former presidents Barack Obama and Michelle Obama, former presidents George W. Bush and Laura Bush, and former presidents Bill Clinton and Secretary Hillary Clinton. A 'virtual parade' will be displayed showcasing communities across the country.

The day will end with the 90-minute prime time program of 'Celebrating America' hosted by Tom Hanks, which also includes a conversation with Biden and Harris.
