The raids were conducted at the company's premises located in Delhi, Gurugram (Haryana) and Bengaluru in Karnataka on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, the official sources said that the Income-tax department has conducted searches at multiple premises of Chinese telecom company Huawei in the country as part of a tax evasion investigation. The raids were conducted at the company's premises located in Delhi, Gurugram (Haryana) and Bengaluru in Karnataka on Tuesday.

As per the sources, the officials checked the financial documents, account books and company records as part of a tax evasion investigation against the company, its Indian businesses and overseas transactions. However, some records have been seized too. 

Statement by the Company 

In a statement, the company said, "We have been informed of the visit of Income Tax team to our office and also of their meeting with some personnel. Huawei is confident our operations in India are firmly compliant to all laws and regulations. We will approach related Government departments for more information and fully cooperate as per the rules and regulations and follow the right procedure." 

"Earlier, the Information and Technology ministry has blocked 54 more digital apps with Chinese links, including Tencent Xriver, Nice Video baidu, Viva Video Editor, and gaming app Garena Free Fire Illuminate, due to security and privacy concerns. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has also launched searches and assets were frozen from Chinese-controlled companies and non banking financial companies (NBFCs) which are dishing out instant loans through mobile apps in India", reported Mint.
