Mumbai: RT-PCR mandatory for Domestic Travelers
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has asked airlines to make sure that every traveller landing in Mumbai has a negative RT-PCR test report, not older than 72 hours.

In a recent update, the Mumbai civic authority has made it mandatory to present pre-arrival RT-PCR test for all domestic air passengers. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has asked airlines to make sure that every traveler landing in Mumbai has a negative RT-PCR test report, not older than 72 hours.
However, "all the international passengers have to take an RT-PCR test on arrival, along with a 7-day institutional quarantine for those coming from ‘at risk’ countries. Those coming from other foreign countries will have to undergo a 14-day home quarantine", said the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
Fresh guidelines for domestic and international travelers
- Domestic air travelers should either be fully vaccinated (14 days of second dose), or have to show a negative RT-PCR test not older than 48 hours.
- Travelers coming from ‘high risk’ countries need to undergo RT-PCR tests on the 2nd, 4th and 7th day after arrival in Maharashtra.
- Positively tested traveler will be taken to a hospital for further seven days of isolation.
- If an international passenger has a connecting flight to any other airport in India (without leaving the Mumbai airport), the traveler will have to take the RT-PCR test at the first arrival airport in Maharashtra.
- As said by the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai, "the institutional quarantine will be effective from December 2, 23:59 hours."
