India set to begin International Commercial Flights from Mar 27
India has decided to lift the ban on International Commercial Flights keeping in view the increased vaccination coverage across the globe. The ban will be lifted from March 27, 2022.

After a gap of 2 years, India is all set to lift its ban on scheduled international commercial flights. The international flights were suspended in the country due to an outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic in March, 2020. As per a statement by the Civil Aviation Ministry, the country has now decided to lift the ban after having recognized the increased vaccination coverage across the globe. The ban will be lifted from March 27, 2022, said the government.
The DGCA announces to restart the services
Making the announcement on Tuesday, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said, “After having recognized the increased vaccination coverage across the globe and in consultation with stakeholders, the Government of India has decided to resume scheduled commercial international passenger services to and from India from 27.03.2022, i.e. start of Summer Schedule 2022."
Civil Aviation Minister shares via Twitter
Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has given this information by tweeting. He wrote, "After deliberation with stakeholders &keeping in view the decline in the #COVID19 caseload, we have decided to resume international travel from Mar 27 onwards. Air Bubble arrangements will also stand revoked thereafter. With this step, I’m confident the sector will reach new heights!"
Meanwhile, IndiGo CEO Ronojoy Dutta said, "This step will provide impetus to the economic recovery of the sector and the nation, with borders opening for tourists. We will soon be announcing the schedule for our international destinations."

The demand for international travel is picking up in India and there has been a significant uptick in travel search queries for popular international destinations like Australia, Sri Lanka, the U.S. and the U.K. Travel search queries from India for Australian cities like Melbourne, Adelaide and Sydney have jumped 15-20% this month”, said Aloke Bajpai, Co-founder and Group CEO, ixigo, quoted as saying by The Hindu.
