As the Covid-19 situation is getting under control, Germany has decided to remove India along with 13 other countries from its list of high-risk areas. The 13 other countries which removed from the list are Bangladesh, Brazil, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Cyprus, Ireland, Portugal – the Algarve region, Nepal, South Africa, Malawi, Lesotho and Eswatini.

As per the reports, the countries have been selected on the basis of the Covid-19 spread in their respective territories. The report was prepared and analysed by the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), a German agency for disease prevention and control.

The report by RKI stated, "Travellers who have previously stayed in a high-risk area must have a test, vaccination or recovery certificate with them and, in the event that a carrier is used, present the proof for the purpose of the transport."

Impact on India

With this decision, the Indian travellers will no longer have to stay in quarantine upon arrival in Germany. Earlier, it was mandatory for Indian travelers to stay in quarantine for 10 days. However, it is mandatory for all travellers to carry their proof of recovery, a vaccination certificate or a PCR negative test certificate.

The high-risk zone countries

Germany has prepared a new list of high-risk zone countries, to be valid from September 19. As per the fresh list, travelers visiting Germany from Armenia, Moldova, Barbados, Guyana, Belize, Antigua and Barbuda, and Venezuela will have to face entry restrictions as per Covid-19 protocol.
