Virat Kohli to skip South Africa Tournament for Personal Reasons
Virat Kohli's daughter Vamika's first birthday is on 11 January next year. He wants to spend holidays with the family on the occasion.

For India’s three-match ODI series against South Africa, Virat Kohli has opted out to be a part of the Indian team as the series is scheduled to be played in January 2022. As per the reports, due to personal reasons he is planning to take a short break. Recently, teh BCCI has replaced Kohli with Rohit Sharma as the captain of the India ODI team almost after a couple of months when he announced to give up his role as a leader in T20I.

Due to an injury, Rohit Sharma has been out of the test series. It is being speculated that Virat Kohli's daughter Vamika will be having her first birthday on January 11, 2022. Due to which Kohli wants to spend holidays with the family on the occasion of his daughter's birthday. Virat Kohli will return after playing all three test matches. This is the first time since the BCCI was stripped of the captaincy of the ODI team, when Virat Kohli has to take the field under the leadership of Rohit Sharma in 50-overs cricket.
“Over the years, the Indian dressing room has been fraught with egos. Be it Kapil Dev and Sunil Gavaskar, Mohammed Azharuddin and Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid, MS Dhoni and Virender Sehwag or Gautam Gambhir. But that doesn’t mean that it has boiled over to what they go and do out there on the field. They’re professionals and are required to behave in a certain fashion at all times," TOI quoted a source tracking the development as saying.
