Today is the 41st death anniversary of hockey magician Major Dhyanchand. Sir Don Bradman, the all-time great batsman of cricket, is also included in the list of Dhyan Chand's fans. Bradman met Dhyanchand in 1935. He had said about Dhyanchand that he scores such goals as runs are scored in cricket. Dhyanchand has given India three golds in hockey in the 1928, 1932 and 1936 Olympics.

The year 1928: Dhyanchand, who went to the Olympics for the first time, showed such a magic of his hockey in this entire tournament that it was as if the opposing teams were scared to see him on the field. In the Olympics played in the Netherlands in 1928, Dhyanchand scored the highest 14 goals in 5 matches and won the gold medal to India. After this victory, the team was strongly welcomed by thousands of people in Bombay Harbor.

Year 1932: Dhyanchand had no problem in repeating the charisma of the last Olympics. India won their first match against Japan 11–1 in the Olympics played in Los Angeles in 1932. Not only this, in the final of this tournament, India beat USA 24–1 and set a world record that broke in the year 2003.

Year 1936: This Olympics was the most memorable for Dhyanchand. Gold was once again expected from the Indian team which reached Berlin under Dhyanchand's captaincy. The Indian team also met the expectations in this tournament and reached the final by defeating the opposing teams. In the final, India was to face Germany's German Chancellor Adolf Hitler from Germany.

Hitler himself had also reached to watch this match

The presence or absence of Hitler was not going to affect the performance of the Indian team or Dhyanchand. However, before this match, the Indian team was under stress because in the earlier match, the Indian team had to face defeat from Germany. But after landing on the field, that tension itself went away.

Dhyanchand defeated Germany in front of Hitler

In the first half of the match, Germany did not allow India to score a single goal. After this, in the second half, the Indian team started scoring goals one after the other and the Germans got to eat all four. However, Germany also managed to score a goal in the second half, which was the only goal scored against India in this Olympics.
