Indian Weighlifter Jeremy Lalrinnunga Wins Gold Medal

Indian Weighlifter Jeremy Lalrinnunga brings Gold Medal for the country in CWG 2022 after lifting 300 kg in the final event of Men's 67 kg category.

On Sunday, July 31, the third day of the ongoing Commonwealth Games at Birmingham, Indian weightlifter Jeremy Lalrinnunga succeeded to record history by winning gold medal for the country in Men's 67 kg category. He lifted a total of 300 kg as his win added the 5th medal to the tally till now. 

India wins second gold in CWG 2022

The 19-year-old weightlifter belongs from Aizwal, Mizoram. He has become victorious in the event after completing the snatch round with a gap of 10 kg from the nearest competitor Edidiong Joseph Umoafia. He completed the snatch round successfully by lifting 140 kg and 160 kg in clean and jerk round.

Jeremy was born on 26th October 2002 at Aizwal in Mizoram. It was in 2011, when Jeremy began to practice weightlifting. His father being a PWD Labour used to be the only bread earner for a family of 8. In 2012, Jeremy got an admission in Army Sports Institute and in 2016, he joined the National Camp.

Jeremy has clinched several medals in International games. Till date, Jeremy has brought several medals for the country. His major achievements include 5 Gold medals, 7 Silver medals, and 1 bronze medal. 

Gold medal in 2017 Commonwealth Junior Championship, 2017 Commonwealth Youth Championship, 2018 Youth Olympic Games, 2019 Asian Youth Championship, 2021 Commonwealth Senior Championship.

Silver medal in 2016 Asian Youth Championship, 2016 Youth World Championship, 2017 Youth World Championship, 2018 Asian Youth Championship, 2019 EGAT cup International Weightlifting Championship, 2019 Asian Junior Championship, 2019 6th Qatar International Cup. 

Bronze medal in 2018 Asian Junior Championship.
