Since March 2020 India has been in a lockdown and while things are coming back to normal slowly, a lot of this has changed from what they were until February 2020. In fact, most of our lives took a complete turn, and a lot of our regular activities and their definitions changed. Not only did face masks and sanitizers become a part of our regular lives, but social distancing also took away the charm of how we used to meet and greet our loved ones earlier.
But what has been sadder is that this lockdown has also severely affected some other regular habits which will only create problems in the future. Read on…
Waking up early
A major life change this lockdown brought was in our daily lifestyles because it majorly compromised the habit of waking up early. Due to the liberty of not traveling to work, we all started staying up till late and in turn, wake up late. Not only is this going to create problems when everything comes back to normal, but is also promoting a very unhealthy way of life.
Gyming or Jogging
Since gyms and parks have been shut, the concept of morning jobs also took a back seat. In fact, stepping on to the streets also during the lockdown was not allowed as a result of which we lost the habit of morning walks. However, since things have gotten a little better, this habit has been resumed, but not many are regular at it anymore because the lockdown has made us all lazy. And this will also have major effects on our health in the times to come.
Office Going
The entire concept of work from home was welcomed at the beginning of the lockdown, but soon after, its unprofessional terms made many of us dislike the concept. Firstly, the office going habit of getting out majorly affects productivity, it also normalizes certain unprofessional standards. And this work from home habit has been unfair to both the employees and employers, while employees have been forced to put extra hours at work only adding to their stress, the disturbance in work-life balance with people giving priority to household chores during work hours have led to losses for companies.
Socializing
We all have learnt that man is a social animal, but this lockdown has only made us an animal with the concept of socializing going down the drains. Not only did it eliminate the habit or concept of going on Saturday nights, but it also created virtual mediums to socialize which doesn’t have the same charm. Moreover, due to the lack of not interacting with other beings in society, a lot of cases of mental illness have also been reported during the lockdown.
Recreation
As human beings, we all need ways to refresh our minds and forget our sorrows, but have us trapped in our homes, the lockdown only made some of us drown in our sorrows. Not only did it add on stress, but it also cut off was to get rid of it. Due to the lockdown, we couldn’t step out for coffee, couldn’t meet people, couldn’t go to watch a movie, and neither could we pack our bags and head out for a small getaway. And being confined in our homes has only made us miserable and majorly affected our spirits to enjoy life, because in the last 10 months that is something we just couldn’t do.
Now, being through all this only makes us wonder, as to how will get our lives back on track when the normal life restarts.
