Anti-Aging Diets 

In the current times, the role of anti-aging diets are trending. Scientists at the University of Washington in Seattle and Pennington Biomedical Research Center in Baton Rouge, CA, conducted the review of popular anti-aging diets. It include not just caloric restriction but also diets that strictly limit a person’s intake of carbohydrates, proteins, or particular amino acids. The researchers have also reviewed the evidence for the efficacy of various fasting regimes. 

Caloric restriction 

The study has shown a clear inverse relationship between calorie intake and lifespan in the animals at about 50% calorie restriction. 

Ketogenic diets 
Ketogenic diets strictly limit the intake of carbohydrates. By allowing unrestricted consumption of healthy fats this diet forces the body to use ketones as fuel, which is a byproduct of fat metabolism in the liver.  
Fasting 
There are three types of fasting that are opted by people.
- Intermittent fasting involves consumption of few or no calories for 1–4 days each week.
- Fasting-mimicking diets follow a low calorie, low protein diet for around 5 days each month.
- Time-restricted fasting is about eating to a certain number of hours each day.
The research conducted on humans has concluded mixed results for time-restricted fasting. "Some studies have shown only mild improvements in health, whereas others have suggested detrimental effects on glucose metabolism", reported Medical News Today. 

Anti-aging drugs 

As reported by Medical News Today, Prof. Kaeberlein has studied the aging in lab animals and pet dogs at the University of Washington.
“It’s early, but there are hints that it’s possible to tweak the network with rapamycin in older dogs and people to potentially achieve similar functional benefits in the heart and immune system as what is seen in mice,” he said.
