UK gives nod to India's Covishield in new vaccine policy
The UK has accepted India's Covishield as an approved vaccine against Covid-19.

India's pressure on Britain, adamant on not recognizing the Covishield vaccine of Corona virus, has finally worked. In fact, the UK has accepted India-made Covishield as an approved vaccine.
On Tuesday, Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla said, "Covishield is a licensed product of a UK company manufactured in India. We have supplied 5 million doses of Covishield to the UK on its request. Therefore, non-recognition of Covishield is a discriminatory policy and impacts those citizens travelling to the UK."

As per reports, the UK has issued new travel guidelines regarding this, which is to be implemented from 4 October. The name of Covishield has also been added in the new advisory. It states that Astragenica Covishield, Astragenica Vaccine, Modern Takeda have been approved as vaccines.
However, it has been said by the UK government that even if an Indian goes to the UK with the Covishield vaccine, he will still have to remain in quarantine. The government there has given the reason behind this that at present the matter of certification is stuck.
