Tamil Nadu government has imposed full lockdown on Sunday. However, essential service will continue.

Starting from January 9, a full lockdown has been imposed on Sundays in Tamil Nadu. Only online classes will be allowed for classes 1 to 9. Whereas students from class 10 to 12 can come to the class. During the full lockdown on Sunday, all markets except emergency services will be closed. Medical and health related services will continue. All markets and offices will be closed except for emergency services. 

On Saturday, Tamil Nadu has reported 10,978 fresh Covid-19 cases and 10 deaths, which is the highest since April 2021. 

Guidelines for Full Lockdown on Sunday 

- Essential services are allowed including milk, ATM centres, hospitals, hospital-related works, goods transportation, petrol bunks.

- Restaurants and hotels will have to prefer parcel services from 7 am to 10 pm, along with food delivery facilities for the customers. 

- Metro and public transport services will remain closed. 

- Inter and Intra private and public transportation will be allowed following the Covid-19 safety guidelines.
