IMD: Issues Heavy rain warning, chances of snowfall in Kashmir and Himachal

IMD has predicted a possibility of rain in many states of the country. These states include Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.

There is a possibility of rain in many states of the country in the coming few days. These states include Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. Along with this, there may be snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) gave this information by issuing a press release on 1 December.

Areas to receive Rain

The India Meteorological Department said that there is a possibility of scattered rain in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh during December 1 to 2 (tomorrow to today). At the same time, there is a possibility of thunder/lightning in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan on 2 December i.e. today. Apart from these, heavy to very heavy rain is likely over Andaman and Nicobar Islands. 

IMD issues warning 

The IMD has issued 'yellow' (heavy rainfall) warning for Odisha's Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri and Jagatsinghpur districts as in these areas heavy rainfall is expected between 8.30 am of Friday and 8.30 am of Saturday. 

"Odisha Special Relief Commissioner PK Jena has instructed the collectors falling under yellow (heavy rainfall) and orange (heavy to very heavy rain) warning category to be prepared to meet any water logging or localised flood-like situation, including in urban areas", reported MInt.
