Delhi government has allowed shops in markets or complexes and malls dealing with non-essential goods to open on an odd-even basis between 10 am and 8 pm. The announcement is made as the cases of Covid-19 are rising in the state. As per the new guidelines, only one authorized weekly market up to 50% limit of vendors will be allowed on normal timings per day area.
The Fresh Notification
The notification reads, "All District Magistrates, through MTAs Municipal Corporations, shall carry out the exercise of numbering of all shops under their jurisdiction within 24 hours and shall ensure that shops / establishments are open strictly as per odd-even system, as directed by DDMA."
The government has asked the District Magistrates to maintain the documentary evidence (photographs videos etc.) of the exercise of numbering in each market. "The field functionaries should be instructed to monitor the same at ground level on daily basis and shall ensure strict enforcement without fail," the notification added.
The fresh guidelines stated that only one authorized weekly market per day (to the extent of 50 per cent of the vendors allowed at normal times) will be allowed in all the three municipal corporations/NDMC/Delhi Cantonment Board.
Covid-19 cases in Delhi
Meanwhile, Delhi is expected to record 17,000 cases of coronavirus infection with a positivity rate of around 17 per cent on Friday, said Health Minister Satyendar Jain. Jain told reporters, “This is the reason why we have taken strict measures to contain the spread of Covid-19 as compared to other states. Some may say that it is not needed, but it is better than regretting it later."
