Army Day 2023 held in Bengaluru.

The Army Day parade is held every year on 15th of January in Delhi since 1949, but this year the parade moved out of Delhi and will place in Bengaluru at Parade Ground, MEG & Centre.

The parade signifies the event of the Indian Army taking over by its first Commander-in-Chief Field Marshal K Cariappa on January 15, 1949 after replacing the British officer who was in the post before him.

The Army Day is being held out of the capital for the first time as part of the government’s initiative to shift major events away from the National Capital Region to other parts of the country. This year the celebrations will be held under the supervision of Southern Command, whose headquarters are in Pune.

The celebrations will start with laying of the wreath by Chief of the Army Staff Major General Manoj Pande at the Madras Engineering War Memorial as a tribute to those who sacrificed for the country. The parade will consist of 8 contingents including a mounted contingent from the Army Service Corps and a military band comprising five regimental bands. The parade will also display a fly-past of Army aviation Dhruv and Rudra helicopters along with it various weapon systems will also be showcased.

People can watch the celebrations live at the social media handles of the Indian Army and the streaming will begin from 9AM.
