Seven people died in fire break out at Delhi's Gokalpur area late on Friday night. 60 huts were burnt to ashes due to the fire.

A painful incident has happened in Delhi where the huts of many destitute and poor were burnt to ashes. 60 huts were burnt due to the fire. The settled life of the people got ruined. An atmosphere of panic has been created due to this accident. 

Once again Delhi has come in the grip of fire, people are searching for their families here and there with tears in their eyes. Seven bodies of people who got burnt have been recovered in the huts. These bodies have been sent to the mortuary for identification. Simultaneously, the cause of the fire is being investigated. 

Additional deputy commissioner of police (north-east) Devesh Kumar Mahla said that the fire was finally doused at around 4am. 

Delhi fire director Atul Garg said the deceased could not escape the fire that spread rapidly because they were sleeping. 


"The charred bodies are unrecognizable. It seemed that these people were sleeping and could not escape as the fire spread extremely fast. Also, 60 huts were completely burnt. We are yet to know the reasons behind the fire,” Garg was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

Expressing the grief, Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted in Hindi, "Heard the sad news early in the morning. I will go to the spot and meet the affected people personally." 

According to the information received, fire was reported in the slums in Gokalpur village of Gokulpuri area at around one o'clock on Friday night. 13 fire brigades were sent to the spot.
