Kolkata International Film Festival (KIIF) begins from Apr 25
The 27th Kolkata International Film Festival (KIIF) started today on April 25 and will end on May 1. More than 150 films will be screened in the festival.

After a long time gap of around two years due to Covid-19, the most-awaited Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF) kicked off on Monday, April 25, and will end on May 1 this year. As reported by the Telegraph India, the festival was scheduled to be initially organized at Netaji Indoor Stadium which has been changed to Nazrul Mancha. Another change in the schedule is the number of days, originally the festival was scheduled to be conducted between January 7, 2022, to January 14, 2022. However, the festival will be ending one day before the originally scheduled date.
Filmmaker Raj Chakraborty, the chairman of the festival, shared with the Times of India, "Despite all the challenges, our chief minister wanted us to host a physical edition of the 27th KIFF. I am happy to announce that the festival will take place at the end of April."
The venues for the festival
This year, the other venues like Nandan, Rabindra Sadan, Sisir Mancha, Kolkata Information Centre, Rabindra Okakura Bhavan in Salt Lake, Nazrul Tirtha in New Town, and Cinema Centenary Building in Tollygunge will be working at 100 percent capacity.

Feature films, short films, and documentaries will be screened
At the festival, 104 feature films along with 59 short films and documentaries from 40 countries will be screened. As per a report by Outlook India, the work was going on in full swing in order to decorate the venues for the onslaught of movie geeks and fans.
Inauguration of the festival
The festival will be inaugurated on April 25 and after the inauguration, the first movie to be screened will be Satyajit Ray's "Aranyer Dinratri" at Rabindra Sadan and Nazrul Mancha. A lecture on the Satyajit Ray memorial will be delivered by Shoojit Sircar on April 26 at Sisir Mancha.
