After 12 years, PM Benjamin Netanyahu has bid farewell. Naftali Bennett, the candidate of the coalition parties and the leader of the opposition, has taken the command of the country as the new PM. Due to this, the solution to the political crisis that arose after four elections for the last two years has been found.

US President Joe Biden and the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi (Narendra Modi) have also congratulated him.

Bennett, a 49-year-old politician with American parents is a former tech entrepreneur who made millions before switching to, and getting deeply involved in, rightwing politics and a religious-nationalist political position. Bennett worked for Netanyahu as a senior aide between 2006 and 2008. He left Netanyahu’s Likud party, however, after his relationship with the former Prime Minister soured. After he entered politics, Bennett aligned himself with the rightwing national religious Jewish Home party, and entered Parliament as its representative in 2013.

Bennett is known for being a strong advocate of the Jewish nation state, and for insisting on Jewish historical and religious claims to the West Bank, East Jerusalem and the Golan Heights, territory near the Israel-Syria border that Israel has occupied since the 1967 war.

Benjamin Netanyahu, while speaking in Parliament, also said that I stand here on behalf of millions of Israelis who voted for the Likud party under my leadership and millions of other Israelis voted for right-wing parties. At the same time, he also said that "it was an honor for me to work day and night for my beloved country." Unlike Bennett's speech, the atmosphere was mostly calm during Netanyahu's remarks.
