On Monday, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has suspended any kind of dine-in facility at all restaurants and bars are also closed due to rising Covid-19 cases in the city. A meeting was conducted by DDMA today, chaired by Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal, attended by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. During the meeting, DDMA decided to shut down the restaurants and bars, allowing only 'take away' facility. Also, according to Delhi's Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal, it was also decided to allow operation of only one weekly market per day per area.

The Next move

Earlier, eateries and bars in the capital were allowed to run with 50 per cent capacity to prevent the spread of coronavirus. In the DDMA meeting it was also discussed to strictly implement the existing restrictions to check rising cases of coronavirus and the new Omron variant.

The Discussion on restrictions

It was discussed in the DDMA meeting that the restrictions imposed in Delhi should be imposed in the National Capital Region region as well. DDMA will meet again after 8 days to take stock of the coronavirus situation in the national capital. At present, city buses and metros are allowed to operate with 100% seating capacity. Kejriwal said on Sunday that the speed with which the coronavirus is spreading in Delhi is a matter of "deep concern", yet there are no plans to impose a lockdown. He had said that if people wear masks then there will be no lockdown.

The DDMA, in its last meeting held on Tuesday, had decided to impose a weekend curfew in Delhi to avoid overcrowding in markets and public places. Night curfew has been imposed in the national capital from 10 pm (earlier 11 am) to 5 am. The state health department on Sunday informed that Delhi has registered 22,751 new COVID-19 cases during the last 24 hours.
