WHO approves India based Covaxin, USA approves for Travel

On Wednesday, the World Health Organisation as finally given nod to approve the India-made Covaxin. With the WHO’s approval of Covaxin, the US Centers for Disease Control (CDC) also gave recognition to the vaccine. The US has allowed fully vaccinated travellers with Covaxin to enter the borders of the country from November 8.
To make the announcement, the WHO took to Twitter and wrote, "WHO has granted emergency use listing (EUL) to COVAXIN®[?] (developed by Bharat Biotech), adding to a growing portfolio of vaccines validated by WHO for the prevention of #Covid19."
The WHO, further said, "The Technical Advisory Group (an independent panel that provides the WHO with vaccine recommendations) has determined Covaxin meets standards for protection against COVID-19... the benefit of the vaccine far outweighs risks (and) the vaccine can be used." It also added, "#Covaxin vaccine was also reviewed by WHO’s Strategic Advisory Group of Experts on Immunization (SAGE), and recommended use of this vaccine in two doses, with a dose interval of four weeks, in all age groups 18 and above. #COVID19."
