Vietnam government has planned to reopen popular tourist destinations from December for vaccinated passengers from countries with low Covid-19 risk. The Vietnam Government has made this announcement ahead of a full resumption of travel.

As per the reports, "Vietnam imposed strict border controls when the Covid-19 pandemic hit the country, in a move to prevent the spread of the virus any further. Although the move witnessed some initial success, it affected its burgeoning tourism sector, which typically accounts for around 10% of gross domestic product."

Reports says, "foreign arrivals fell to 3.8 million last year, which fell down from 18 million in 2019, when revenue from tourism generated around USD 31 billion, which was equivalent to 12% of GDP. Currently, the country is making all efforts to speed up Covid-19 vaccinations, however, as of now, just 13% of its 98 million people has been inoculated, which is one of the lowest rates in Asia."

As reported by Times Travel, "Earlier, Vietnam has announced that the resort island Phu Quoc would be reopened from November for vaccinated travellers. The Vietnam Government added, "We are only open when it's truly safe. We are moving step by step, cautiously but flexibly to adapt to real situations of the pandemic."
