Tourists not allowed beyond Atal Tunnel as Himachal receives Snowfall
Due to snowfall in Himachal tourists are not allowed to go beyond the Atal Tunnel.

Recently, many tourists visited Himachal’s Kullu-Manali as the place has received fresh snowfall in the winter season. In Manali, a sudden rise in tourism brought smiles on the faces of the hoteliers, said a report by Times Travel. However, as there is a fresh spell of snowfall at Atal Tunnel on the Manali-Leh highway, the administration of Lahaul and Spiti stopped tourist vehicles from moving beyond Atal Tunnel in Lahaul.
As per the report, the hoteliers said that after receiving fresh snowfall on Monday, the number of tourists in the region has gone up. In fact, the industry experts believe that the number of tourists is expected to rise in Kullu-Manali in the upcoming days.
The report mentioned that starting from December 20, the Atal Tunnel will remain closed for vehicles twice a week from 7 AM to 9.30 AM for regular maintenance works and no vehicle will be allowed in the tunnel on Mondays and Thursdays.
The Atal Tunnel is named after former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. It is built at a height of 3000 m above sea level between Himachal Pradesh’s Manali and Leh in Ladakh. This is a 9.02 km-long tunnel which is also the world’s longest highway single-tube tunnel.
