The northeastern states of India will get international air connectivity with selected international destinations under the International Air Connectivity Scheme (IACS).

Recently, the Ministry of Civil Aviation has launched the International Air Connectivity Scheme (IACS) under which the ministry will plan to connect the interface of certain states in the country with selected global destinations. The  International Air Connectivity Scheme (IACS) is the global UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik) plan of the nation which is launched to promote the financial development of the country. 

Selected International destinations 

As per the Ministry of Civil Aviation, the northeast territories of Manipur, Tripura, and Assam will have air courses interfacing with selective global destinations like Bangkok, Dhaka, Kathmandu, Yangon, Hanoi, Mandalay, Kunming, and Chittagong. 

International Air Terminals 

The northeast district has two global air terminals, at Guwahati and Imphal. While the Guwahati air terminal is taken care of by the Guwahati International Airport Limited (GIAL), the air terminal at Imphal works under the Airports Authority of India (AAI). Both GIAL and AAI have initiated the development of the New Integrated Terminal Building or NITB, along with a large group of other advancement works at their separate air terminals to increase traveler handling limits, and furthermore to work on the administration of the air terminals. Imphal Airport's New Integrated Terminal Building will be finished at an expense of INR 500 crore, and it is expected that it will be able to deal with 2.4 million travelers every year.
