The government of Sikkim has announced to ease Covid-19 restrictions in the state. The move has been taken as Sikkim saw a significant decline in Covid-19 cases. As per the official order released by the authorities, the Sikkim government issued an order on Thursday, "the decision to lift the restriction was taken after the state noted a significant decline in the Covid-19 case."
"Markets, shops, and commercial establishments shall function as normal. All educational institutions shall function as per guidelines. No restrictions on social, political, religious & sports-related gatherings," reads the order.
The new guidelines
As per the new guidelines, the state government has allowed markets, shops, and commercial establishments to operate as normal. Education institutions will also be allowed to remain functional. Social, political, religious, and sports-related gatherings are also permitted to continue without any restrictions.
Sikkim has a total of 541 active cases, as per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
Meanwhile, on Monday, India has reported 34,113 fresh Covid-19 cases along with 346 deaths and 91,930 recoveries in the last 24 hours, said the Union health ministry. Presently, the active caseload in the country stands at 4.78 lakh and the recovery rate stands at 97.68%.
