Railways to Resume Kolkata-Dhaka Maitree Express Train Services from May 29
The train services between India and Bangladesh will be restarted from May 29. Mitali Express train will be launched in June.

As per an official order, the passenger train services between India and Bangladesh will restart from May 29. These train services were stopped in March 2020 as a precautionary measure against the global widespread of coronavirus.
The orders have been issued by the Railways Board to restart the operations of the Kolkata-Dhaka Maitree Express from Dhaka by Bangladesh Railway route and Kolkata-Khulna Bandhan Express from Kolkata by the Indian Railways route on May 29, 2022.

Mitali Express is to be inaugurated on June 1
On June 1, 2022, the services of NJP-Dhaka Mitali Express will be initiated after the flagging off of Mitali Express by the railway ministers of India and Bangladesh from Rail Bhawan.
The route of Maitree Express
Maitree Express is the main present-day, completely cooled global express train administration interfacing Dhaka to Kolkata. Beforehand, train administrations between the two nations existed before India's partition by the British, and the Maitree Express restored this association between Dhaka and Kolkata in 2008 subsequent to being shut for quite a long time.
In 2017, a subsequent train administration, the Bandhan Express, was initiated associating Kolkata with the Bangladesh city Khulna, restoring the past Barisal Express train course.

The Maitree Express runs five days every week. The train makes a trip of around 400 kilometers to arrive at Dhaka from Kolkata. Prior, there were two stops for migration checks in Kolkata and Dhaka. One in Gede on the Indian side and the other in Dorshona on the Bangladeshi side.
