PM Modi To Inaugurate UP's Bundelkhand Expressway Today

Under the aegis of Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA), the newly-built four-lane expressway was constructed with a whopping budget of approx Rs 14,850 crore.

On Saturday, July 16, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be visiting Uttar Pradesh's Jalaun to inaugurate the newly completed Bundelkhand Expressway. The four-lane Bundelkhand Expressway is 296km long and is built at a cost of Rs. 14,850 approx. This expressway is likely to give a major boost to the industrial development and connectivity of this area. 

Having a focus on industrial development and connectivity, the Modi government has allocated a budget of Rs 1.99 lakh crore for the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways in the budget for 2022-23. In 2013-14, the government has allocated a budget of Rs 30,300 crore to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, which shows that this year's budget is 550 percent higher. 

The Foundation Stone was laid by PM Modi 

On February 29, 2020, Prime Minister Modi laid the foundation stone of this four-lane expressway to connect Chitrakoot with the Lucknow-Agra Expressway. In almost 28 months, the project has finally been completed and is ready to be inaugurated by the PM.

Features of the Bundelkhand Expressway 

Under the aegis of Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA), the newly-built four-lane expressway was constructed with a whopping budget of approx Rs 14,850 crore. 

As shared by PM Modi on his official Twitter handle, "the state-of-the-art Bundelkhand Expressway passes through 7 districts. The local economy will benefit tremendously due to it. There will be great industrial development in the region and this would bring more opportunities for the local youth." 


The main purpose of this expressway is to give a boost to the connectivity and develop the industrial corridor in Banda and Jalaun districts. 

As per an official statement, "The government has been committed to enhancing connectivity across the country, a key feature of which has been the work towards improvement in road infrastructure."
