Omicron Variant: DGCA announces to not resume International Flights from Dec 15

The DGCA has suspended the decision to start the international flights from December 15 amidst Omicron threat.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation has suspended international flight services starting from December 15. Earlier on November 26, the Ministry of Civil Aviation had said that all international flights coming from India will operate normally from December 15. However, the operations have been postponed. Due to the threat of mutated variant of the corona virus, Omicron. New dates to resume the international flights will be announced later. 

Covid-19 

Let us tell you that due to the Covid-19 pandemic, all international flights to and from India are closed from 23 March 2020. However, since July last year, special international passenger flights are operating under air bubble agreements with around 28 countries. 

Statement by the Home Ministry 

The Home Ministry, after reviewing the current Covid-19 situation, issued a statement, stating that, "Decision on effective date of resumption of scheduled commercial international passengers service, to be reviewed, as per evolving global scenario." 

Omicron Variant 

The Omicron variant of the corona virus has created a new fear all over the world. The WHO has termed this variant as a 'variant of concern' and has asked all countries to be cautious. Due to this, India has also taken many steps. New guidelines have also been issued regarding flights operating under air bubbles.
