Omicron Threat: Ladakh suspends winter tourist activities
Ladakh government has suspended all the winter tourist activities amidst Omicron threat.

Amidst the rising cases of Covid-19 and its variant Omicron, the administration of Ladakh has decided to cancel all the prominent winter tourist activities including the very well-known Chadar Trek. As believed by experts, the Omicron variant of Covid-19 is highly contagious. Hence, the government of Ladakh cancelled the tourist activities in the area.
The Chadar Trek
The Chadar Trek is a well-known adventure activity undertaken by adventure lovers. It is a 105 km long trek which takes trekkers to the frozen Zanskar River. The deputy commissioner of Leh, Shrikant Suse took to Twitter and issued a notification in order to suspend ChadarTrek 2022, snow leopard sighting expedition and other winter activities in the district.
While sharing the information on Twitter, Ladakh Tourism wrote, "Keeping in view the current #COVID19 situation, @DC_Leh @Shrikant_S has issued notification for the suspension of #ChadarTrek 2022, #snowleopard sighting expedition and other #wintertourism activities in Leh district."
