Indian Railways is set to restart its catering and other passenger amenities in trains. As per reports, IRCTC sources have claimed that Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav will convene a meeting next week wherein a decision regarding the resumption of services related to served food, base kitchen, on-board kitchen, bed rolls and blanket, might be taken.
Since March 2020, in lieu of Covid-19 pandemic, the railways had suspended e-catering and other services, such as providing bedrolls, blankets, etc. After a long time, in August 2021, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Cooperation (IRCTC) resumed the E-catering services.
Steps to place food order through IRCTC’s official website
- Visit IRCTC’s E-catering official website https://www.ecatering.irctc.co.in/.
- Enter ten-digit PNR number and click on the arrow to proceed further.
- Select the food from the list of cafes, outlets and quick service restaurants available.
- Place the order and select the payment mode. Either, pay online or cash on delivery.
- Once the order is placed, the food will be delivered to your seat/berth.
