Indian Railways set to launch Vistadome Trains in Assam and West Bengal today
The Vistadome train services in Assam and West Bengal will be launched by Indian Railways today.

State-of-the-art Vistadome train services between Guwahati-New Haflong in Assam and New Jalpaiguri-Alipurduar Junction in West Bengal will be launched by Indian Railways from today, August 28. The Jalpaiguri-Alipurduar train will have a Vistadome coach with two air-conditioned chair cars, two non-airconditioned chair cars, a luggage car and a power coach. It is set to run thrice a week on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
Between Guwahati and New Haflong the Vistadome train service will run twice a week on Wednesdays and Saturdays with stoppages at Manderdisa and Maibong stations. A senior official from North East Frontier railway said, "We are very much excited about this journey. We are planning Vistadome service at Darjeeling Hills also."
Assam's Guwahati-New Haflong
The Guwahati-New Haflong train services in Assam will run twice a week on Wednesdays and Saturdays with stoppages at Manderdisa and Maibong stations.
"The train will depart from Guwahati at 6:35 am and reach New Haflong at 11:55 am, covering a distance of 269 kms through the North Cachar Hill region. During the return journey, the train will leave New Haflong at 5 pm to reach Guwahati at 10:45 pm", reported News18.
New Jalpaiguri-Alipurduar Junction
The New Jalpaiguri-Alipurduar train route is encompassed by high hills and dense forests inhabited by a rich ecological diversity. The passengers have to pay the fare for one way journey by the Vistadome NJP to Alipurduar Junction around Rs 955. However, fare for the AC chair car and Non-AC chair car will cost around Rs 410 and Rs 85, respectively. Passengers can book the tickets in advance through PRS or IRCTC web portal.
The special Vistadome train will be running thrice a week, on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, between NJP and APD junction section with stops at Sevok, Chalsa, Madarihat and Rajabhatkhowa stations.
Departing from NJP at 7:20 am and the train will reach APD at 1:00 pm, covering a distance of 168 km. "Return journey of the train from APD at 14:00 hrs and arrives at NJP 19:00 hrs. The rail route is known as the elephant corridor and there are speed restrictions of 25km per hour. Attractions through the route are tea tasting points at Sevok and Hasimara, selfie points at Sevok and Hasimara, folk dance at Chalsa and Bhutani dance at Hasimara", reported News18.
