Indian Railways is all set to launch around 190 theme-based trains also known as Bharat Gaurav Trains, in order to boost the tourism sector. The recent announcement has been made by the Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw.

In the press conference, the Railways Minister stated that Bharat Gaurav trains could be run both by the IRCTC, as well as the private sector. “We have allocated trains for ‘Bharat Gaurav’ and 3033 coaches have been identified. We will start taking applications from today. We have received good response. Stakeholders will modify and run the trains and the Railways will help in its maintenance, parking and other facilities,” Vaishnaw said.

“As of now, ICF coaches have been earmarked for the Bharat Gaurav scheme. But in the future even Vande Bharat, Vista Dome and LHB coaches can be included based on demand,” PTI quoted him as saying.

In the statement, the Railways said that by theme-based tourism, the railways plans trains like Guru Kripa to cover all those places that are related to Guru Nanak or a Ramayan-themed train that will touch upon places that are related to Lord Rama.
