On Tuesday, the Delhi government delegated the very first clump of ladies DTC transport drivers. Delhi Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot distributed the letters of appointment to 11 lady drivers joining the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) as transport drivers.

The ones who will presently begin their professions as transport drivers have been sent to different DTC stations. On the empowering occasion, Gahlot said, "I want to thank all women today being handed over the letters of appointment today, for their courage to take up bus driving as a career choice and becoming a role model for society. I am very hopeful that they will inspire more women to become bus drivers with Delhi's transportation fleet."

These women drivers are trained by DTC 

The ladies, in the wake of finishing preparing, will be prepared to drive DTC transports. A sum of 81 ladies, in two bunches, have proactively finished this preparation, and 38 have procured their HMV licenses. Ten of these ladies are at present going through preparation at the DTC Training Center, Nandnagari for acceptance as transport drivers, and 31 more have applied to embrace preparation there.

In February, the Delhi government loosened up the standards and qualification rules to select ladies as drivers for DTC. It diminished the base level rules from 159 cm to 153 cm and experienced measures for acceptance as transport drivers for ladies for one month.

Women are hired as bus drivers under Mission Parivartan 

In April, the Transport Minister started off 'Mission Parivartan', a drive to prepare ladies to acquire their Heavy Motor Vehicle (HMV) licenses at Society for Driving Training Institute, Burari. The drive is being executed as a joint endeavor between the Delhi government and Ashok Leyland Ltd to work from start to finish preparing for 180 ladies' possibility of getting a driving permit for the HMV classification.
