Char Dham Yatra: Tourists Without Advance Online Registration Will Not Get Entry

In order to avoid rush at the pilgrimage site the Uttarakhand government has mandated for tourists to have an advance online registration.

Recently, the Himalayan shrines in Uttarakhand received a large number of devotees resulting in an excess rush. In order to keep the journey safe and sound for the visitors, the Uttarakhand government has activated check posts in Dehradun, Mussoorie, and Rishikesh that will ensure the entry of only those tourists who have registered themselves. 

Dehradun District Magistrate R Rajesh Kumar said, "This has been done to ensure that the number of pilgrims does not exceed the daily limit prescribed for the temples. It will also help prevent any last-minute confusion."

Tourists to be stopped at Rishikesh 

As per the government, if any tourist fails to present the documents of prior registration then that tourist will be stopped at Rishikesh. 

In this reference, Principal Secretary - Tourism, Government of Uttarakhand, Dilip Jawalkar said that keeping in view the safety concerns at the shrines the number of devotees to visit each of the Char Dhams is fixed. In order to avoid any inconvenience at the last moment, tourists are advised to follow the protocol by getting themselves registered beforehand.

The weather conditions are tough at this terrain 

Keeping in view the safety and security of all the tourists, the tourists who have arrived there without prior online registration are stopped at Rishikesh and asked to go back. 

The move has been taken after 31 pilgrims lost their lives during the journey. The Uttarakhand government has already issued guidelines for the pilgrims to have a full body check-up before starting the journey as the tough weather conditions in this terrain could lead to major health issues.
