Bagdogra Airport to Resume Flight Operations after IAF repairs Runway
The runway repairing work of Bagdogra Airport has been completed by the Indian Air Force (IAF).

On Tuesday, the Indian Air Force (IAF) finalized the repair work of the runway at Bagdogra air terminal in north Bengal, permitting civil trips to operate. Two weeks earlier, cracks were identified on the primary runway. Since then, the air terminal, utilized mutually by the IAF and traveler flights, had been shut.

In a statement, the Indian Air Force said, "The resurfacing on the central bituminous portion of the runway has been completed on schedule. The runway was closed for two weeks to lay three flexible bituminous layers, reconstruction of non-load bearing surfaces, and other works. This also comprised reconstruction of the concrete portions at each end of the runway and widening of the taxi tracks and links as per International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards", quoted as saying by News18.

The work was executed by Border Roads Organization (BRO) and finished quickly to forestall further provocation to civil fliers. Bagdogra likewise works as a diversionary airbase for the IAF for its airplane taking off from Air Force Station, Hasimara.
