On Saturday, August 13, the Indian contingent that participated in the recently finished Commonwealth Games at Birmingham met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his home. The Indian contingent finished the international event with 61 medals, including 22 gold. The gold medal was won by great players like PV Sindhu, Bajrang Punia, Vinesh Phogat, and Lakshya Sen.

PM Modi praises Indian contingent
While appreciating the efforts and achievements of the Indian contingent, the Prime Minister said, "You have made the nation proud. It was a historic performance at CWG 2022 by India."
Further, he said, "The nation was watching your performances every moment despite of time zone difference. Self-confidence and courage are your identity. We will continue to put efforts to improve and enhance ahead. The country is overwhelmed by the historic performance of its daughters at the Games. Your success is inspirational and encourages others to perform in other sectors too."
