Chinese mobile manufacturer Vivo will return as the sponsor of the IPL 2021, as its attempts to transfer rights to another company failed due to non-offering as expected.

Vivo's sponsorship agreement with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is Rs 440 crore per year. Their sponsorship was suspended last year in view of tensions along the Indo-China border following violent clashes in eastern Ladakh.

BCCI sources told PTI, "What Dream 11 and Unacademy offered for this year was not in line with Vivo's expectations, so it has decided to sponsor itself this year and explore possibilities next year."

Dream 11 was the title sponsor of IPL 2020. He acquired these rights by paying Rs 222 crore. This was almost half the amount Vivo would give in a year for a five-year agreement. According to reports, Vivo acquired IPL sponsorship rights from 2018 to 2022 for Rs 2190 crore.

IPL 2021 can be organized in second week of April

According to the report, the 14th season of the IPL may be held in the second week of April. However, it has not been officially announced yet. Also, it is not completely clear where this league will be played this year, but the BCCI had made it clear that it will try to organize IPL in the country this time. According to sources, IPL 2021 can be held in Ahmedabad, Pune or Mumbai.
