Olympic Gold Medalist Neeraj Chopra Breaks His Own Record
Neeraj Chopra breaks his own record in Javelin Throw at Finland's Paavo Nurmi Games.

On Tuesday, Olympic gold-winning Javelin player Neeraj Chopra set a new national record by recording a throw of 89.30 meters at the Paavo Nurmi Games in Finland. After winning the gold medal at Tokyo Olympics in 2021, this is Neeraj's first competitive event.
Earlier, he set a record of 88.07 meters in March last year at Patiala. However, he couldn't manage to achieve the gold this time as his competitor from Finland, Oliver Helander won the gold with a score of 89.83 meters.

Neeraj's first competition after Tokyo Olympics 2021
While speaking to SAI, Neeraj said, "This was my first competition since the Tokyo Olympics and it went really well as in the first competition itself, I hit my personal best throw and also won the silver medal. Now I am aiming for the next few events which would be bigger than this and of course the Commonwealth Games, where I will face a lot of competition."

The Paavo Nurmi Games
The Paavo Nurmi Games are a World Athletics Continental Tour Gold series event which is one of the most prestigious competitions outside the Diamond League Meetings. About the current event, Neeraj was quoted as saying by the Times of India, "I got a good start here, so it has definitely boosted my confidence that I can perform better and I will take the shortcomings from here and improve upon them as we head for a bigger event."
