On 29th August, India is celebrating 10 years of National Sports Day to commemorate the birth anniversary of Major Dhyan Chand, the hockey champion of India. This day is praised to perceive and value the tradition of Major Dhyan Chand while making mindfulness about the significance of consolidating sports and proactive tasks in our everyday life. 

PM Modi shared his greetings via Twitter, he wrote, “Greetings on National Sports Day and tributes to Major Dhyan Chand Ji on his birth anniversary. Recent years have been great for sports. May this trend continue. May sports keep gaining popularity across India."

Celebration of National Sports Day 

National Sports Day is celebrated in India on Monday. A three-time Olympic gold decoration victor, Major Dhyan Chand was important for the Indian hockey group which won gold in 1928, 1932, and 1936 versions of the Olympics. In his 185 appearances for the country, he scored 570 objectives for India. Prominently, with the energy and excitement hitting each road and corner across India just before National Sports Day, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports would lead the 'Meet The Champion' drive in 26 schools in the nation over on August 29, expressed authorities on Sunday.
