Birmingham Games: Indian Swimming Champion Srihari Nataraj Reaches Final
Srihari Nataraj became the seventh qualifier for finals after reporting 54.55s as he completed at fourth. Sajan Prakash and Kushagra Rawat have failed to advance to the semi-finals of their events respectively.

On Friday, at the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham, Indian swimming champion Srihari Nataraj entered to compete in the Men's 100 m backstroke final. He became the seventh qualifier for finals after reporting 54.55s as he completed at fourth.
Earlier in the day, he qualified for the semi-finals. The 21-year-old swimmer recorded 54.68s as he finished third fastest in his heat and overall fifth fastest.
Srihari Nataraj is the only player to enter the finals
For the Indian contingent, Nataraj is the only bright spot to compete in the aquatics championship as Sajan Prakash and Kushagra Rawat have failed to advance to the semi-finals of their events respectively.
However, Prakash and Kushagra will be competing in other events. Prakash is competing in 100 m and 200 m butterfly and Kushagra is in the competition for 200 m and 500 m freestyle.
Records made by Srihari Nataraj
At the 2021 Sette Colle Trophy in Rome, Nataraj set a record of 52.77 m in a 100 m backstroke event. With a timing of 2:01.7 seconds, he holds a national record in the 200 m backstroke event.
Last year, he became the first ever Indian swimmer to participate in classification A Heat at the Tokyo Olympics. At the Tokyo Olympics, he completed 27th in the 100 m backstroke event.
