Australia has won the first test match of the Ashes series. In this match, Australia beat England by 9 wickets. Australia's dominance in this match can be gauged from the fact that it has won this five-day match on the fourth day itself.

The game scorers

Travis Head scored a brilliant century for Australia. He was adjudged as the player of the match. Like Travis Head, this match was also memorable for Nathan Lyon. Nathan Lyon took the 400th wicket of his Test career in this match. He has become the 17th bowler in the world to take 400 Test wickets. Lyon returned to dismiss Ollie Robinson (8), inexplicably reverse sweeping to point, and bowl Mark Wood (6) before Green finished off the England innings when he had Chris Woakes (16) caught behind.

The first test match between Australia and England started on 8 December. In the match played at Gabba, England won the toss and decided to bat first. Captain Joe Root decided to bat first and the entire England team was bowled out for just 147 runs in the first innings. Australian captain Pat Cummins played an important role.

He took five wickets. Australia scored 425 runs after beating England cheaply. Travis Head scored 152 runs for him. David Warner became a victim of the nervous nineties. He got out after scoring 94 runs.
