All India Chess Federation said in a press release that new dates for the events will be announced later.

On Monday, the All India Chess Federation (AICF) has announced to postpone several national level championship events including national junior, sub-junior, and national school championships amidst rising cases of Covid-19.

In the release, AICF secretary Bharat Singh Chauhan said, “Considering the new wave of the pandemic with another variant and the restrictions imposed by various states and agencies, AICF decided to postpone national championships scheduled for January 2022 (National Junior, National School & National Sub-Junior)." 

Further, the release added, “We greatly regret the decision taken due to a force majeure situation considering the health and difficulty of all stakeholders." 

The Under-20 national junior championship was scheduled to take place from January 9 in New Delhi whereas, the other events were slated for later dates in the month. The new dates for the events will be announced later, said the AICF in a press release.
