Today is the second day of Navaratri in which Adi Shakti is worshipped in her Brahmacharini avatar. ‘Brahma’ means penance and ‘Charini’ means behavior. So Goddess Brahmacharini is known as the Goddess of knowledge, penance and detachment. 

This manifestation of the Goddess is also known as ‘Yogini’ or ‘Tapasvini’. The beautiful image of Brahmacharini Devi portrays her as wearing white saree with bright orange border and ornaments made up of Rudraksh. She holds Japa Mala (Rosary) in her right hand and a Kamandal (Water Pot) in her left hand. Goddess Brahmacharini is an epitome of wisdom, knowledge, penance, love and loyalty.  

Goddess Brahmacharini could be worshipped in the second day of Navaratri by chanting any mantra related to knowledge and detachment like “Om en namah”. The devotee is advised to wear white or yellow clothes. Worshipping the Goddess is also beneficial for those who possess weak moon in their natal chart. Also chanting mantra of moon in addition to her prayer is regarded as highly blissful. 

Offering of materials made of silver is considered beneficial for the devotees. Offering white things to the Goddess like sugar, panchamrit or sugar candy and distributing them among the near and dear ones could be beneficial to lighten your luck. People who want to fast should consume only liquid food and fruits.
