Every year, November 1 is celebrated as World Vegan Day across the globe. The day celebrates the custom of embracing an all-green diet which excludes all the dairy and animal related products. On World Vegan Day people are motivated to adopt a vegan lifestyle. The World Vegan Day for the year 2021 will mark 77 years of celebration.
What is Vegan and Vegetarian?
A Vegetarian diet excludes the consumption of meat, eggs, or other animal products. Whereas, a Vegan diet excludes the consumption of all the dairy products such as milk, cheese, yogurt, paneer, and others.
History of the day
World Vegan Day was established on November 1, 1994 to celebrate the golden jubilee of the UK Vegan Society and promote the term "vegan". The Vegan Society was established in November 1944. It is believed that Veganism has existed for more than 2000 years, while vegetarianism existed for 500 years before veganism.
Significance of the day
Veganism is a healthy way of living that anybody can adopt with some changes in the diet. World Vegan Day is celebrated to create an awareness about the health advantages of following a vegan diet and to promote it.
Theme of the day for 2021
World Vegan Day is celebrated through small-scale carnivals, culinary festivals, and public gatherings. This year, the Vegan Society’s theme for the day is ‘Live Vegan for Less’ to raise awareness about inexpensive vegan cuisine.
