Every year, World Quality Day is celebrated on the second Thursday in November to focus the light on the significance of quality management in our lives. In 2021, the day will be observed on November 11. The day is aimed to create an awareness around the world to support economic prosperity for individuals and organizations by adopting the high-quality standards.

The Quality

ISO 9001 is the most widely used QMS (quality management system) standard in the world. It has defined quality as “the extent to which a set of intrinsic characteristics of an object meets standards."

History of the Day

In 1919, the day was founded by the Chartered Quality Institute (CQI), a professional organization located in London. On November 13, 2008, the CQI’s inaugural World Quality Day conference was held at the Inmarsat Conference Centre in London, and it delivered its promise of being a venue for innovation, inspiration, and innovative ideas.

Significance of the Day

The role of quality in organizations safeguards and enhances the reputations, promotes profitability, and drives change. Quality is a result and a feature of a product or service delivered to a customer. It also marks a company that has pleased all of its stakeholders.

Theme of the Day for 2021

For 2021, the theme is “Sustainability: Improving Our Products, People, and Planet."
