Every year, World Population Day is celebrated on July 11 to bring issues to light about the global population. Overpopulation is a basic problem as the world's resources are being spent at an impractical rate. Due to an increasing concern about the impact of the population on maternal health and family planning issues, it has become important to guarantee women's access to family planning, maternal health care, and gender equality.

History of the Day

The day was established in 1989 by the then-Governing Council of the United Nations Development Program. On July 11, 1990, the day was first seen in excess of 90 countries. From that point forward, various UNFPA public workplaces and different associations and organizations, in a joint effort with states and common society, have noticed World Population Day.

Significance of the Day

The significant reason for this day is to bring issues to light of the relative multitude of adverse consequences that populace development has had on the consistent improvement of nature.

To satisfy its command, UNFPA teams up with many gatherings, both inside and past the structure of the United Nations, including state-run administrations, non-legislative associations, common society, religious associations, heads of the strict local area, and others. There are around 8 targets to observe World Population Day.

The theme of the Day

The subject during the current year is "A world of 8 billion: Towards a resilient future for all - Harnessing opportunities and ensuring rights and choices for all." As the topic proposes, there are 8 billion individuals living today yet not every one of them has equivalent privileges and potentially open doors.

An excessive number of people keep encountering separation, provocation, and brutality in view of their orientation, identity, class, religion, sexual direction, handicap, and nation of origin. Because of the overpopulation issue, orientation imbalance and basic freedoms infringement are more normal than at any other time in countries.
