World Hindi Day 2022: Know the Theme, History and Significance of the Day

Every year, World Hindi Day is celebrated on January 10 to pay honour to the language. The aim of this day is to make people aware about the importance of Hindi language as a part of public opinion. 

History of the Day 

World Hindi Day conference was first held on January 10, 1975, in Nagpur, Maharashtra. 122 representatives from 30 countries took part in the grand event. The day is observed in India from the year 2003. The tradition of celebrating World Hindi Day in other nations has been started by the Ministry of External Affairs in 2006 with an aim to promote this language across the world. 

Significance of the Day 

The language got its name from the Persian term ‘Hind’ which means ‘the land of Indus’. The language is spoken in India, Trinidad, Nepal, Guyana, Mauritius and other countries.

Theme of the Day 

The theme of World Hindi Day (World Hindi Diwas) is to use it widely to make it the people’s language. The aim is to make people aware about Hindi language and make it a future language.
