World AIDS Day has been observed by WHO every year since 1988 on 1 December. The purpose of celebrating this day is to make people aware of AIDS or “Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome”. It is caused by a fatal disease infection caused by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Not only this, the human body cannot get rid of HIV and there is no treatment , because of which a person can even die. The Government and Non-Government Organizations continue to educate for prevention and control of AIDS.
World AIDS Day is amongst the 11 official global health campaigns by the World Health Organization. Along with this, World Health Day, World Tuberculosis (TB) Day, World Vaccination Week World Malaria Day, World Antimicrobial Awareness Week, World Blood Donor Day, World Tobacco Prohibition Day, World Hepatitis Day, World Patient Safety Day are celebrated to you.
