Janmashtami symbolises the birth date of Lord Krishna. This festival is widely celebrated with pomp and show across the country. On this day, the devotees put up ‘Jhankis’ and offer prayers to Lord Krishna. As per Hindu Calendar, Janmashtami is celebrated every year on the eighth day of Bhadrapada month’s Krishan Paksha. This year, the tithi of this festival is falling on Monday, August 30.

The devotees spend their whole day by observing a fast. At night, the puja is performed and devotees complete their fast after offering lord Krishna with ‘Bhog’. As per Hindu Shastra, the fast observed on Janmashtami is called as ‘Vratraj’. It is believed that by observance of this fast bears more fruit than keeping multiple fasts throughout the year.

This time the auspicious date and time to celebrate Janmashtami is Monday, August 30. Nishith Puja Muhurat is from 23:59:27 to 24:44:18. Janmashtami Paran Muhurat is on August 31 after 05:57:47 in the morning.
