In view of the upsurge in demand of trains in the on-going festive season Indian Railways gifted 2,269 trips of 179 pairs of special trains to the citizens of the nation.

These trains would function till the end of Chhatt Puja this year in order to tackle the festive crowd. It would also ensure that those passengers who desire to celebrate the festivals with their near and dear ones could get to their relatives comfortably. These services have been scheduled to operate on major routes across the country like Delhi- Patna, Delhi- Bhagalpur, Delhi-Muzaffarpur, Delhi-Saharsa.
Moreover passengers in these special trains are going to experience a faster trip. Apart from this the speed of 500 mail express trains is upgraded by the Railways authorities. Also 130 services (65 pairs) have been converted to the Superfast category in the new All India Railway Timetable.
The Ministry of Railways announced in Twitter about the new plan and said, "Easing festive travel for passengers! To ensure convenience of the travellers and clear extra rush, Railways is running 2,269 trips of 179 special trains (in pairs) till Chhath Puja. Special trains have been planned to connect major destinations across the country.
The 2022 festive season initiated with Ganesh Chaturthi on August 31 that eventually led to Navratri (September 25 to October 4) and Durga Puja (October 5). Chhath Puja is all set to begin with 'Nahay Khay on October 28 of this year. Then Kharna' would follow on October 29. Setting sun and rising sun would be worshipped on October 30 and October 31 respectively.
It is mentioned in the press release that to ensure the security of passengers additional RPF personnel will be positioned at major stations. Important railway stations would be equipped with 'May I help you booth' in order to provide assistance and guidance to passengers. Moreover the Railway authority has taken several steps to execute timely announcements about the arrival and departure of trains.
