Coastal states including Odisha and West Bengal have been alerted for the cyclone’s high magnitude. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself had a review meeting. A war room has been formed in both the states.
The Meteorological Department (IMD) says that the Yas has turned into a severe cyclonic storm. It will give a single on May 26 near Balasore, Odisha. On May 26, its intensity will increase further. The effect of this storm has already started showing. Regarding this, the Meteorological Department has also issued a rainfall alert for most of the districts of Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand and Bihar.
Alert in Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh
The Indian Meteorological Department has alerted Jharkhand, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. A rain alert has been issued in about 27 districts of Uttar Pradesh. Apart from this, almost all the districts of Bihar have been alerted. The Jharkhand government is also taking precaution. The government is promising every help to West Bengal.
